The outbreak of cases of Conjunctivitis (a highly contagious eye infection) which is commonly known as ‘Eye-flu’ or ‘Pink eye’ makes it vital to take the required precautions in time and take due care in case anyone is infected.
The school is taking the required precautions; however, we would advise strict adherence to the steps enumerated below to reduce the risk of getting conjunctivitis or spreading it to someone else.
• Send a separate handkerchief and hand sanitiser with your ward on a daily basis.
• Guide your ward not to share personal items, such as lunch boxes, water bottles, etc. with other children.
• Ask your ward to wash his/ her hands often with soap and warm water thoroughly.
If your child exhibits any symptoms of eye flu, such as redness, itching, excessive tears, or eye discharge, please take care of the points mentioned below.
• Please avoid sending your child to school until he/ she has fully recovered.
• Guide your ward to avoid touching or rubbing the eyes. This can worsen the condition or spread it to the other eye.
• Do not use the same eye drop dispenser/bottle for the infected and non-infected eyes.
• Wash or clean any discharge from around the eye(s) several times a day using a fresh cotton ball, which should be discarded after use.
• Hands should be washed with anti-bacterial soap and water thoroughly every now and then.
• Do not share personal items at home like pillows, washcloths, towels, eye drops, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the washrooms and toilets.
• Consult a medical professional for immediate relief with quick and timely recovery.
• Even after recovery if any symptom persists, kindly make your child wear goggles to school.
